Outer Banks School of Real Estate's Award-Winning Instructor

Meet Betsy Whitcraft, Director/Instructor OBXSoRE

Betsy has over 14 years of experience in the real estate field, specific to the Outer Banks market, and is beginning her sixth year as a real estate educator. Knowledgeable in all aspects of North Carolina real estate, Betsy brings her expertise to the classroom. winner of the north carolina real estate educator's association program of the year award

Prior to her real estate career, Betsy was the regional manager for an international sales company with territory in the south, southeast and midwest. After 18 years in traveling sales, she decided to unpack her suitcase and transition to a new career. She and her husband moved to the Outer Banks to be near her family. Betsy began her real estate career to give her freedom of lifestyle and diversity of income, like so many of the students she teaches today.

Personally, she is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher with a thirst for learning, and a constant continuing her own education relevant to real estate. She is recognized statewide for her achievements in this field.

Betsy is the recipient of numerous professional awards:

  • For the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years she was recognized by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission for her students’ outstanding overall first time passing performance rate on the North Carolina real estate broker exam. The school scored a total overall performance much higher than the average rate statewide.
  • Betsy also received the 2010-2011 Program of the Year Award from the North Carolina Real Estate Educator’s Association. This honor is earned by the instructor who NCREEA program of the yearwrites the best NCREC continuing education course. Betsy’s award-winning course on property management was written specifically about the market in the Outer Banks concerning resort sales management and how it functions. This course is offered at the Outer Banks School of Real Estate, and is currently being taught statewide.  CE Course # 2916 Resort Property Management
  • While working in the Property Management field at Sun Realty, Betsy was awarded Rental Office of the Year as manager, Employee of the Year and was a leader in multiple listing contests.

Betsy has recently submitted her second course titled, The Dance, which investigates the relationship between property management and real estate sales in tourist markets, with specific focus on the Outer Banks.
